MAKING CRAFTS

Since The Eagle's Nest Grand Opening is coming up quickly and so is craft fair weekend Ray and I have been making a few crafts to sell. Just thought you all may want to have a sneak peek, and also if interested in buying any item seen just comment me with your contact info. Please feel free to leave your reviews on my crafts as well.

VIKINGS DID IT AGAIN

Last night Cody's team played their make up game against the chiefs (remember the game was cancelled due to lightning). It was a game that in a way was bittersweet. He played against a team that for the past few years he had been on their team and also attended school with most of the boys. The quarterback and him were best friends while in elementary. So for Cody this game was a bittersweet victory.
The final score was 32 Vikings 8 Chiefs.
The Vikings still are undefeated as of last night.
WAY TO GO VIKINGS!!!!!!!

GREAT FINDS
Today we went to an estate auction in Tonitown. Woke up this morning and went to walmart cause we were suppose to make crafts today for the craft fair and my flea market grand opening but at the last minute we decided to attended the auction. It started at 1 pm and we bought so much we had to make two separate loads. First load was a 16 foot enclosed trailer and then we had to go back and get the 12 foot flat bed trailer to finish getting our finds.
Tomorrow I hope to be able to get up very early and go to the office and get some general work done before any body ever gets to work then I would love to go home and decorate for fall. I am so behind at my house that it is gonna take me a week to get it back to where I like it. I am a very organized person but I have been so busy this year with general and starting my flea market. Hopefully I can get stable soon.

VIKINGS VS EAGLES
Codys team played the eagles this afternoon at 430. This year so far they have had 3 games in which they won 2 and the last one was cancelled due to lightning. The make up game is this coming Tuesday so looked for another blog on the results of that game. will be playing the chiefs.
This is our 4th game this year and our team is doing fantastic.
In the first quarter cody got a tackle. It was great. He loves to play football and watches it all the time. In this game he played defensive end and offensive guard. He loves those positions even though he is great at kicking and being center he just like the contact part of those positions.
At half time the score was Vikings 18 and Eagles 0.
The score at the end of the 3rd qtr Vikings 26 and Eagles 0. If the coach gave player of the game this week should go to #22 Mackenzie patrick.
Final score Vikings 26 Eagles 0. Way to go Vikings.

I think that being a business owner is one of the hardest jobs you try to everything right and no matter what the circumstances somebody is always there to do just the opposite of what you pay them to do. You simply ask do your job correctly and they simply correct their friday checks and screw the rest. Employees not a good word with me today!
RAINED OUT!
Last night was the Vikings 3rd game. They were set to play the Chiefs but 2 minutes before kick off the game was cancelled due to lightning from a storm that was moving in. Not all parents were happy about this but I am happy with the decision that was made. Safety First for my son is the way I see it.

A CRAFTING WE WILL GO!
Since tomorrow is Rays birthday he wanted to get outta town for the day so we headed up toward Branson and stopped at the apple tree antique mall to scope out some more ideas for The Eagle's Nest but didn't really get any different ideas and then we was odd to Ozark missouri where there are many antique malls and flea markets. We didn't get any new ideas but did find some great treasures and I even found another display case in great condition. Since it is Sunday the stores close at five so we headed back the long way to find some others that we have not been to and we will know to come back on a different weekend. So we had a much needed day of family time. Just us and the kids these are the days that I cherish and always will. These days are few and far between lately but I still cherish them no matter how long or how short.

Progress for the week on The Eagle Nest has been great! We started the remodeling of that section of our warehouse, got the windows taken out and a hole cut for one of the windows to be placed looking into my office. I got the vanity in the break area crackled and repainted. We got half the floor painted and the stencils I'm gonna use to stamp the walkway. We also got the side walls painted a red barn color and it looks great as well. I got my EIN# and sent off for my sales tax exempt permit! I have chris working on the graphics and I finally found the perfect nest! I know what I want the graphics to look like I just need for chris to finish putting it together. I ran our ads for the booth spaces available for rent and we have even hung a few things up in the main entrance. I am so excited about my new venture and can not wait to get it up and running for business. Tomorrow gonna work on the crafts.

Soup!
Have you noticed that the first little cold snap or fall like weather people start craving soup? I love fall it is one of my favorite seasons! The colors of fall are awesome and it tends to give the heart a sense of warmth.
I have been wanting some of my vegetable soup that my grandma taught me to cook many years ago when I was a teenager. When the weather is like today cloudy, windy, slight bits of drizzling rain I just want to go home out on some soup curl up in a blanket and watch a movie with my loving husband and beautiful children. So tonight we are having vegetable soup for supper, and I am going to decorate for fall and take a picture of the kids and pets for my fall cards that I always send out to welcome the season.
Progress of my antique\flea market yesterday was boy all that I had wanted but did get the floor painted. Yesterday is a day I wish that I could rewind and completely redo!
2nd FOOTBALL VICTORY!
Hooray for the 6th\7th grade Vikings, they had their 2nd game last night against the Raiders and stormed them 25-6. Codys tackle caused a fumble and our Vikings #22 picked up the ball and ran in for the 1st touchdown of the night, and I need to also add the Cody had a jammed thumb that we had just come from the doctors office after getting it x rayed but he is a tuff guy so he played last night with his injury!
2 games down 2 victorys!
Way to go Vikings!
Next game Monday night!

IT'S OFFICIAL
Today I made it offical. I had my attorney work up the papers for a tax number and I am now the owner\manager of The Eagle's Nest Antique Mall & Flea Market. I am so excited to see the progress of the building that the guys and Ray accomplished today! It is coming together quite nicely. Ray and I also went by the city to find out what permits where needed to have craft booths for vendors during the craft fall weekend in mid October. I do need to get busy making some more crafts for that weekend cause if all goes well that is going to be my grand opening. Tomorrow I have got to get up early and do some general work and then I am going to crackle paint some shelves that I bought this weekend at the estate auction we attended. I hope to get the paperwork on a sales tax number and I contacted my rep with the local paper to run a ad for the opening soon announcement & booths available to rent.

Estate Auctions
I have to say that besides mine and rays love of classic cars we also have a love of auctions! I guess that is why I have the longing to start a flea market/antique mall. You never know what your gonna find at these sales and under what circumstances the sales are being held. It may be due to a death in the family, foreclosure, divorce, or bankruptcy, etc. What ever the reason so the saying goes "one mans junk is another mans treasure"!
Today we went to an estate sale that was great! The lady could have been my best friend I think she had a scrapbooking room and was selling everything. Let's just say I was in heaven even though I didn't need anything, we bought the entire room almost. I also bought this amazing crock and I few cabinets and so other odds and ends for the eagles nest. To be opening soon I might add. Best of all Ray is happy as am I.

VIKING VICTORY
Tonight was codys first game and and first victory!
Vikings played the Steelers and defeated them with a final score of 28 to 6!!!!! Woot woot way to go boys!
I have feeling that this year we have finally got our selves a team. A winning team. All the boys are very hard player and dedicated to the team and have a true love of the sport!
Cody is center and defensive endl and I might add is very good at both!!!! Next game is Tuesday night at 6.
I have to also add that tomorrow will be a quite day for me from Ray cause he will probably not have a voice cause he was the loudest dad in the bleachers! Even with his back hurting him in the worst way! Sorry no pictures but I am blogging from my blackberry and can't attach a picture!
Congratulations Vikings great job defeating those steelers!

1st Day of School August 19th, 2009

I have been meaning to post these pictures of the kids for awhile now, but i have finally found the time. So Sorry for the delay.......Cody's first day as a 6th grader and his first year in middle school. Ashley's Senior Year. This is her last first day of high school ever, as she likes to say all the while making me cry in the process.

Welcome to the Family Gunner!

He was given to us my Rays step mom who has had him since he was 5 weeks old. He is now almost 2 years old in October. He is a very happy and playful Schnauzer that i have had now for about 2 weeks and have become every attached to him. He is a ladies man. he sleeps with me and Ray, loves everyone and go to the office everyday with us. He favorite thing in the world is Sonic Ice, and going to the banks 9cause they give him bones)

Ray

Everyone please pray for my husband. He has injured his back worst than ever before. He still believes (as most men do) that he is super man but i feel i speak for most wives in saying that our husbands are not superman. They are human like us and do from time to time get down in some shape or fashion. My husband feels that he can still lift mountains and needs no rest to relax his pain. Last week he purchased a rear end for his 1967 Camaro RS SS that he is restoring and we went to pick it up and he carried it all the way around the building to load it in the back of the truck. Even though it was in a smaller box the weight of this box was massive. I later ask him why he didn't ask for a dolly to put it on and pull around to the truck and his reply was as expected (I didn't know i was going to hurt my back or i would have.) Classic Answer! So now he is in bed and can't move even after going to the doctor a few days ago.
So everyone please keep him in your prayers.......

I am wondering what people think about about my employees sometimes! It amazes me how certain employees that have been with me for years and some for months can act like they just started or how they on certain days just completely lose all memory of their daily job duties! Granted we are all entitled to a bad day but come on several days in a week! This statement also sometimes goes for the kids but I expect pre-teens and teens to forget but not on a daily level like my employees! I have to Say that most days my kids are better about doing their chores than my employees are about doing their job! I give applause to my husband though because he is a true leader, he can deal with situations in a very professional way sometimes not a quite way but still professional not to where I stay quite and stew about stuff he says what's on his mind and doesn't give it anymore thought! I could imagine life without him

Opening Soon!!!

I am happy to say that i will be opening a store soon in my area for vintage, uniques, antiques, crafts & collectibles. i have decided to name it
The Eagle's Nest
i am set to open at the 1st of 2010 and maybe sooner than that it all depends if i can get everything up and going.
i will have enough booths of all shapes and sizes to fill a 2400 square foot area with enough room to add more as needed.
i will try and blog about my process as i go. at this moment i am working on a logo so i can start advertising.

Slamily Reunion

On August 1st & 2nd, 2009 we traveled to what was advertised to be the
GODFATHER of all CAR SHOWS!
The Slamily Reunion 2009!
It was held in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This will be the first car show I give a not so good review this year. the first issue that i have with the show is that i feel that the location of the show was great. It was held at the Knights of Columbus Park on Columbus Acres Road. My problem with this is that you didn't know what time the event registration started or ended, what time the judging started, or the time that the awards were going to be presented. My next issue is the cost of the entry and the cost for spectators to come enjoy the beauty & the craftsmanship of these rides. Show entry was $30 if you preregistered and $35 the day of the show. Spectator entry was $10 per day or $20 weekend pass (where's the break there) no matter the age of the spectator. Needless to say their were not alot of spectators. The show was centered around the younger crowd (low riders) not really a show for the classic car folks. There were over 300 + entries and 95 % of them were lowriders. Granted those are always some awesome rides just some (not all of the entries) where loud and drunken smarties.

They didn't care who was near when they dropped their rear ends and dragged across they gravel parking lot throwing gravel everywhere and hitting several cars and scratching the paint jobs. i was not a fan of any of that. It was suppose to have numerous hot rod magazines there, but in the end was announced that only one was there before the show only for one ride and it was pre-arranged. It was supposed to be a family event and to me it was just a druck fest with nothing for a kid to do, and really nothing for a adult to do either.
There was however one contest that ray did enter. It was the jalapeno eating contest.....The prize was for a dvd in car system. He almost won by a half of second but the guy beside him finished before he did.
he suffered for a while afterwards but i'm proud to say that he did great concerning up until about a year and a half ago he wouldn't even eat them.
The folks that attended the show with us was my buddy Ray P. & Rick P. with there black 29 sedan truck.
and he won 1st for his class and also won best interior. which i might add had a misspelling on it award(although it was cool)
reunion is not spelled correctly.
The special awards were much to be desired by us classic hot rod folks. even the sponsor of the event wouldn't even by a event t-shirt. They even started making up classes just to get rid of the awards.

Bob & Wanda Crass also joined us there and they won 2nd in there class.

i won 1st with my 1950 Chevy and 1st in the special interest class with my 32 roadster golf cart.

not a show that we will ever attended again.....
