Hackett Car Show

on april 11th we entered our first car show of the year. it was in hackett arkansas to benefit the seniors of hackett high school and help fund there senior trip. the judging was done by the entries but they also had many speciality awards to be given as well.
this car show holds a special place in re's heart since that is where he graduated. he was the kid who didn't have much and his class of 17 helped him by donating money so he could be able to attend his senior trip if not for them he would not have been able to go. i to am from a small town with then only one red light (through the town has now grown since my years in school) we were all close in school because most of us had gone to school since kindergarten together. that is one thing that my kids don't have is small classes and to me they are missing out.
the weather was perfect car show weather and the setting for the show was as always beautiful. the city park of hackett is the perfect place for a car show. we invited a friend to join us and left rogers at 6:30 in the morning. we arrived and there were several cars already there so we unload my truck and cody's golf cart while bob found us the perfect spot. the entertainment was mr. cabbage head and the screaming raishes (great band) and the outlaws also gave us a good show. we talked with some of re's old classmates and walked around taking pictures and admiring the other classics that were there. we always enjoy meeting people at the shows we attend and since this was our 2nd year to attend this show we seen folks that we had met at last years hackett car show. re's brother and sister in law came my nieces (m&m) and one of there cousins.
when it was time for the awards to be handed out we all moved closer to the band stand under the shade trees.

bob won 1st in his class. he has a 2007 mustang. hes name for her is MISTY. she has mystic paint and is a true show stopper.

cody took his 2008 escalade golf cart and would had won an award had there been a special interest or most unique class.he had to enter the class with the new trucks. never the less he had a great time and his ride was loved my all.
i entered my truck. THE PEPPERMINT EXPRESS. she is a 1950 chevy 3100 5 window and has won multiple awards.
i use to just want to win but now i get more pleasure from meeting and talking to folks about her and just pretty much showing her. the speciality awards are the best win for me. she has won several best paint, best engines, best interior, best wheels, and the best of show award last year. that was one of my goals is to win a best of show just once and when i did that i had a feeling of accomplishment. ever since i just want to show win or lose car shows are my way of relaxing away from the office, and socializing with others. don't get me wrong though it's always nice to bring home an award for your ride.i got second place in my class for modified trucks 1900-1964.and i also received the award for principals choice. this is the second year that i got this award which means alot cause then you know that you have gotten 2 awards in a row for this certain award. i have also won fire cheifs choice in cave springs two years running as well .

the truck that won first in my class was well deserving of that awards. beautiful truck which i have seen win numerous awards at other events as well. i love this truck and the owners are very nice folks.

so tomorrow i am going to enter the gateway show and will post more about that after the show.
